Beyond Interpreting, MO SSP Program PO Box 154, Oregon, MO 64473 660-491-0146 (V/T/FT) Hours: 8:00-5:00pm (M-F) The MO Support Service Provider (SSP) Program is a grant funded Program, established by the Missouri Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (MCDHH), that provides DeafBlind(DB) individuals optimal opportunities to access their community and live autonomously through guidance, environmental information, and basic communication assistance by use of a skilled SSP. Touch, equality, choices, and understanding are values that the individuals within the program respect and appreciate. Availability: The Program is funded through a grant between July - June, annually; this fiscal year, services are available to those eligible until June 6, 2021. Program eligibility: proof of progressive hearing and vision loss, MO resident for a minimum of 1 year prior to intake, and age 15 years or older. Services include: receiving environmental information, basic communication assistance, public and/or private transportation assistance, and physical guidance from a Program SSP in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings. Participant-directed services: DB participant requests directly with their preferred SSPs, contract between participant and provider is required for Program paid services, and completed outings are confirmed to Beyond by participant. Participants might experience fees for transportation services upfront; however, reimbursement is available with proper documentation. The MO SSP Program is constantly seeking SSPs. Eligibility: age 18 years or older, basic DB cultural knowledge, comfortable communication skills, internet and email access, valid driver's license, and background screening fulfillment. Children served in the Special Learning Center program have delays ranging from mild to severe. Children without delays also attend the Special Learning Center and serve as friends and role models to their peers. In this program, our classrooms offer a warm, caring environment where individualized and appropriate learning activities for each child are offered. Students are grouped by developmental and age levels into early childhood classes. Sign language classes, physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy are offered on site and in the outlying school district. We also have a childcare center called Crayon Kids. Student/teacher ratios are kept to a minimum to maximize each student’s progress and help prepare students for entry into public school or their next educational placement.
